Seek You (2023-)

Seek You is an ongoing series of performances in which the artist weaves herself into a structure of leather strands. She begins by constructing the lower section of the body around hers and eventually dives inside of it, bringing life to the leather. Tension constricts the artist’s movement and breathing, who attempts to submerge herself in the material, finding shelter inside of it. The negotiation gives shape to a new body made of the artist’s and the work’s skins.

Due to the nature of the material, the smell of leather permeates the room. Strands squeaking and stitches snapping are audible with the strained movements of the artist.
